I just want to share a few things with future criminal justice students about my experience in this program. The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice exists within the College of Public Programs. Our criminal justice program is rated top in the nation! I find this program extremely interesting!
I chose to study criminal justice because I desired to have a career that would be interesting and one in which every day would be different in some way. I have decided that I would like to be a detective for a police department in the future. With this career, I know I will look forward to my job each day being able to work in different areas while encountering many types of situations. The main reason I made this career choice is because I want to be able to help make a difference in people's lives. I want to solve those cases that no one believes can be solved and bring peace of mind to those families.
As a criminal justice student, you will begin to notice after taking a few criminal justice classes at ASU that your professors usually work in some position within the criminal justice field. For example, I have had professors that are sergeants in police departments, probation officers, criminologists, researchers, and attorneys. I found it exciting to learn that my professors have either a masters degree or doctorate degree to teach these courses while also having the personal experiences from working in the field. From my experience so far, our professors are knowledgeable in many different areas of the criminal justice system. These professors care about each student as an individual and a future employee of the criminal justice system. They want to help each one of us make a difference in our career as a criminal justice agent to improve the system as a whole.
I believe that through our education in the criminal justice program each student will be prepared to enter the criminal justice system with knowledge and the capability to succeed in their careers!
